The question asked in verse 1 and the answer given in verse 7 are like a summary of everything we have been reading. We often get distracted and do not prioritize what really matters.
A story in the Bible reminds me of this. Peter is invited to walk on water, but he begins to sink because he gets distracted and was looking at the waves instead of the eyes of his Savior. When Peter reaches out his hand, Jesus saves Him.
Jesus says to us, “focus on me.” This is how we walk on water in life.
What is distracting us from the presence of the Lord? How can we pull away from distractions and focus on what matters?

About this Plan

The Epistle of James has so much to offer us as followers of Jesus today. It was originally written to Jewish Christians spread all over the ancient world. The message is straight to the point, practical, and challenging. Wherever we find ourselves following Jesus, this letter can help us realize how our spiritual and practical life should be one in the same.
