Song of SalvationSample

Our response to salvation: the vertical component
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; […] Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things” (Isaiah 12:4-5, NIV)
If you have experienced God's salvation, it is only natural to thank Him for it. In Isaiah 12, the Israelites think primarily of their deliverance from exile and the return to their own land. But of course, there are more “glorious things” that the Lord has done and for which we may thank Him again and again. The greatest of all is our salvation from sin and hopelessness. Because of our sin, we deserved to be separated from the Lord God forever. But He offers us forgiveness and a restored relationship. When we dwell on that, we have plenty of reasons to sing to the Lord every time! Paul does this, for example, in his letter to the Christians in Ephesus. He lists all that the Lord has done for us humans “in order that we might be for the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:6, 12, 14)
Take a moment to name some “glorious things” the Lord has done for you, and thank Him for them in a personal prayer or with a song!
