ExodusSample

If we return to the question “who is the Lord” from the first day of this week’s readings, I think it helps us to understand the position Pharaoh was in. God eventually gives Pharaoh over to His sin. It was Pharaoh’s continual rejection of God that led to his heart being hardened. Pharaoh is still trying to compromise. He is now willing to let part of the people go but is still trying to bargain.
To truly know God is to truly know His goodness. It is His desire that his people experience complete freedom, not just partial freedom. He loves us too much for us to settle for any less. God is the Lord Almighty, all powerful, creator of all things, who deeply loves His people. If we ever fear trusting Him or submitting to His instructions, it’s God’s invitation that we would seek to experience His goodness and love for us.
