Have you ever wondered if what you do truly matters? We all want to be remembered fondly. We want to be remembered for being good at our job. We want to be remembered for being a good spouse, parent, and friend. We want the world to be better because we were in it. Often, we get caught up in how long things can take. We don’t see the progress we are truly making, and as a result, we don’t see the difference we are making.

1 Peter 2:1-10 talks about our growth as believers and the significance that Jesus invites us into.

As babies, we need to start with the basics. To rid ourselves of the things of the world and take in as much of the things of the Lord as we can. Babies experiencing the goodness of the Lord for the very first time.

As part of a holy house, we represent the ancient temple where God’s presence dwelt with His people. We have the Spirit of God in us; therefore, people can come and experience the Lord through us. We are one stone in a temple devoted to God.

And we are part of a royal priesthood. People charged with declaring the goodness of the Lord to the world. People who have personally tasted that the Lord is good and greater than all the world has to offer. Actively and intentionally sharing our experience with others so they can turn from the ways of the world to the ways of the Lord.

Whichever step you are at, your actions matter to your journey and the journey of others. Each step brings you more in line with God and with His Kingdom.
