DAY 5 OF 10

All I Have

Have you ever doubted that God’s promise is true? Have you ever run away from God?

We all have or currently are in one way or another. At one moment in time, I was quite literally driving away from everything God had for me. It looked as though I had forfeited friends, safety, and purpose to go to a place where I had none of that; to a place God would let me fail and not be faithful.

Anxiety, confusion, and doubt are very real parts of our everyday life. We have money issues. We have relational problems. We have spiritual questions. Even just one issue by itself can feel like it’s almost too much to take. But compound those issues, add interest, spin around three times and it becomes too much.

“Do not worry about your life,” (Matthew 6:25) seemed like an impossible thing. Jesus’ words in Matthew 6 were hard to take at that moment. Moving from anxiety to surrender was a journey in which I realized that I may never arrive at the destination I thought I would. I was reminded that Jesus taking up the cross was also Him taking up our need to know the next thing. If we have Jesus we have victory. If we have Jesus we have a future. If we have Jesus we have all we need.

We toil and strive most of the time for things that won’t last when Jesus ultimately wants us to “seek first his kingdom” (Matthew 6:33). What do you need to surrender today? What are you anxious about that you need to release? What do you need to let go of to seek first his kingdom? “Be still” and know that Jesus is enough. With Him, we truly have everything.

Heavenly Father, this culture wants me to have more and it tells me I don’t have enough. I pray for vision to see through that veil. That I can look around me and learn to want the life that you have given me. I let go of any material possession that I think will satisfy me. I let go of any circumstances that make me feel anxious. I pray that I would confidently acknowledge this truthif all I have is you, I have all I need. If all I have is you, I have everything. Amen.
