Daily PresenceSample

I did not grow up in a perfect family. Now I know there is no such thing, but at the time all I knew was that I was surrounded by people who were hurt and hurting each other. It was a painful experience that my young mind could not understand. Why would God allow suffering? Now, I have taken master’s level classes about understanding evil, suffering, and what the bible has to say… I still don’t have an answer. I don’t know if I will anytime soon. The closest thing to comfort is that God is not some alienated being up in heaven (wherever that is) that simply oversees everything that happens in the world without having any relationship or affection to it. The Lord suffers with the suffering. Knowing that God is suffering with me has been incredibly healing. It has provided a companion in my walk as I struggle through life’s valleys. It has allowed me to identify and grow closer in relationship with Him in my times of need.
In today’s reading, Jeremiah is proclaiming the destruction of many places by the hand of the Lord. They did not repent and turn from their ways. The destruction and the suffering broke God’s heart, “Therefore I wail over Moab, for all Moab I cry out, I moan for the people of Kir Hareseth.” Jeremiah 48:31. Hebrews 4 days that we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. The Lord suffers with us when we suffer, he is close and personal to the point that He came to Earth.
When we suffer we feel alone. We feel like no one understands us, or understands what we are going through. That is the lie of the enemy. Today, in that area in which you are suffering be encouraged that God answers that you are not suffering alone. That he is right there with you. That His heart breaks when you’re suffering. Not just that, but he has placed people around you to also be a companion during that suffering. God cared so much about you that He through Son came so that you would not be alone. God through the Holy Spirit is your comforter. He is close. He understands you. He sees you.
