40 Days of Prayer & FastingSample

Only by Fasting – Spiritual Authority
Spiritual Authority is increased in fasting.
In Mark chapter 9, we read the story of Jesus healing a boy with a demon. Jesus steps in when the disciples weren’t able to do the healing. When Jesus rebuked the demon, it came out of him and the boy was healed in an instant. He later says that some spirits can only come out by prayer and fasting. As we have learned over the last few weeks, Jesus often withdrew himself and went away to fast and pray. He was close with the Father, growing in spiritual strength and authority and therefore was prepared and ready to cast out any kind of demon. He had been with His father who gave Him spiritual authority. If there’s something that you have been believing and praying for that has not come to pass, keep asking while you are fasting! The Lord may ask you to fast again and keep seeking Him even beyond these 40 days.
Prayer: Thank you for the spiritual authority that You have given me that becomes even greater in fasting! Increase my spiritual authority as I draw closer to You in this time. You gave your disciples all power and authority, so I am asking for the same power and authority as a follower of You. Teach me to do what You do. Amen.
About this Plan

Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
