40 Days of Prayer & FastingSample

Fasting + Compassion
Fasting and compassion may not be your typical ways of connecting with God, but we can connect with Him in so many ways.
Fasting makes room for God to fill us with compassion so we can then pour it out on others. As you’re fasting and moving closer to God, let your intimacy with Him move you to compassion. As you get to know more of His heart through fasting, let Him move you to acts of service. Ask Him what’s on His heart. While you fast, lean into God’s heart for you and others. We can’t be the hands and feet of Jesus when we work in our flesh. Fasting is a way to replace the flesh and allow us to be a more accurate representation of Jesus to those we minister to. As you look for the Lord’s heart, ask Him to also lead you into who to pray for and how to pray for them. Enter into intercession!
Prayer: Give me Your eyes and Your heart to be Your hands and feet. Transform my perspective to see people how You see them, to see injustices and solutions for them the way You do. Thank You for showing me compassion so that I can then show compassion to others. Your word says that You are the right hand of God, interceding for us. So, teach me how to intercede. Show me what’s on Your heart so that I can be Your hands on feet on the earth.

About this Plan

Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
