 <div class="p">1The Lord said to Moses, 2&#8220;Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. 3These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; 4blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 5ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather#25:5 Possibly the hides of large aquatic mammals; acacia wood; 6olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 7and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.</div><div class="p"> 8&#8220;Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.</div><div class="s1">The Ark</div><div class="p"> 10&#8220;Have them make an ark#25:10 That is, a chest of acacia wood&#8212;two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high.#25:10 That is, about 3 3/4 feet long and 2 1/4 feet wide and high or about 1.1 meters long and 68 centimeters wide and high; similarly in verse 17 11Overlay it with pure gold, both inside and out, and make a gold molding around it. 12Cast four gold rings for it and fasten them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other. 13Then make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 14Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it. 15The poles are to remain in the rings of this ark; they are not to be removed. 16Then put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law, which I will give you.</div><div class="p"> 17&#8220;Make an atonement cover of pure gold&#8212;two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. 18And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. 19Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends. 20The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover. 21Place the cover on top of the ark and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law that I will give you. 22There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.</div><div class="s1">The Table</div><div class="p"> 23&#8220;Make a table of acacia wood&#8212;two cubits long, a cubit wide and a cubit and a half high.#25:23 That is, about 3 feet long, 1 1/2 feet wide and 2 1/4 feet high or about 90 centimeters long, 45 centimeters wide and 68 centimeters high 24Overlay it with pure gold and make a gold molding around it. 25Also make around it a rim a handbreadth#25:25 That is, about 3 inches or about 7.5 centimeters wide and put a gold molding on the rim. 26Make four gold rings for the table and fasten them to the four corners, where the four legs are. 27The rings are to be close to the rim to hold the poles used in carrying the table. 28Make the poles of acacia wood, overlay them with gold and carry the table with them. 29And make its plates and dishes of pure gold, as well as its pitchers and bowls for the pouring out of offerings. 30Put the bread of the Presence on this table to be before me at all times.</div><div class="s1">The Lampstand</div><div class="p"> 31&#8220;Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them. 32Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand&#8212;three on one side and three on the other. 33Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. 34And on the lampstand there are to be four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms. 35One bud shall be under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair&#8212;six branches in all. 36The buds and branches shall all be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.</div><div class="p"> 37&#8220;Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it. 38Its wick trimmers and trays are to be of pure gold. 39A talent#25:39 That is, about 75 pounds or about 34 kilograms of pure gold is to be used for the lampstand and all these accessories. 40See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.</div>

 <div class="p">1Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, &#8220;May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 3Elijah was afraid#19:3 Or Elijah saw and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4while he himself went a day&#8217;s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. &#8220;I have had enough, Lord,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.&#8221; 5Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.</div><div class="p">All at once an angel touched him and said, &#8220;Get up and eat.&#8221; 6He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.</div><div class="p"> 7The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, &#8220;Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.&#8221; 8So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. 9There he went into a cave and spent the night.</div><div class="s1">The Lord Appears to Elijah</div><div class="p">And the word of the Lord came to him: &#8220;What are you doing here, Elijah?&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 10He replied, &#8220;I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 11The Lord said, &#8220;Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.&#8221;</div><div class="p">Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.</div><div class="p">Then a voice said to him, &#8220;What are you doing here, Elijah?&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 14He replied, &#8220;I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 15The Lord said to him, &#8220;Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. 17Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. 18Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel&#8212;all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.&#8221;</div><div class="s1">The Call of Elisha</div><div class="p"> 19So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. 20Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. &#8220;Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,&#8221; he said, &#8220;and then I will come with you.&#8221;</div><div class="p">&#8220;Go back,&#8221; Elijah replied. &#8220;What have I done to you?&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 21So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.</div>

 <div class="p">1Jesus said to his disciples: &#8220;Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. 2It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3So watch yourselves.</div><div class="p"> &#8220;If your brother or sister # 17:3 The Greek word for brother or sister (adelphos) refers here to a fellow disciple, whether man or woman. sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying &#8216;I repent,&#8217; you must forgive them.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 5The apostles said to the Lord, &#8220;Increase our faith!&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 6He replied, &#8220;If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, &#8216;Be uprooted and planted in the sea,&#8217; and it will obey you.</div><div class="p"> 7 &#8220;Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, &#8216;Come along now and sit down to eat&#8217;? 8Won&#8217;t he rather say, &#8216;Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink&#8217;? 9Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, &#8216;We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.&#8217;&#8198;&#8221;</div><div class="s1">Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy</div><div class="p"> 11Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy#17:12 The Greek word traditionally translated leprosy was used for various diseases affecting the skin. met him. They stood at a distance 13and called out in a loud voice, &#8220;Jesus, Master, have pity on us!&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 14When he saw them, he said, &#8220;Go, show yourselves to the priests.&#8221; And as they went, they were cleansed.</div><div class="p"> 15One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16He threw himself at Jesus&#8217; feet and thanked him&#8212;and he was a Samaritan.</div><div class="p"> 17Jesus asked, &#8220;Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?&#8221; 19Then he said to him, &#8220;Rise and go; your faith has made you well.&#8221;</div><div class="s1">The Coming of the Kingdom of God</div><div class="p"> 20Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, &#8220;The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21nor will people say, &#8216;Here it is,&#8217; or &#8216;There it is,&#8217; because the kingdom of God is in your midst.&#8221;#17:21 Or is within you</div><div class="p"> 22Then he said to his disciples, &#8220;The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. 23People will tell you, &#8216;There he is!&#8217; or &#8216;Here he is!&#8217; Do not go running off after them. 24For the Son of Man in his day#17:24 Some manuscripts do not have in his day. will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. 25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.</div><div class="p"> 26 &#8220;Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.</div><div class="p"> 28 &#8220;It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.</div><div class="p"> 30 &#8220;It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32Remember Lot&#8217;s wife! 33Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. 34I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.&#8221; [36]#17:36 Some manuscripts include here words similar to Matt. 24:40.</div><div class="p"> 37&#8220;Where, Lord?&#8221; they asked.</div><div class="p">He replied, &#8220;Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.&#8221;</div>

 <div class="p">1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: &#8220;In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, &#8216;Grant me justice against my adversary.&#8217;</div><div class="p"> 4 &#8220;For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, &#8216;Even though I don&#8217;t fear God or care what people think, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won&#8217;t eventually come and attack me!&#8217;&#8198;&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 6And the Lord said, &#8220;Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?&#8221;</div><div class="s1">The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector</div><div class="p"> 9To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10&#8220;Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: &#8216;God, I thank you that I am not like other people&#8212;robbers, evildoers, adulterers&#8212;or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.&#8217;</div><div class="p"> 13 &#8220;But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, &#8216;God, have mercy on me, a sinner.&#8217;</div><div class="p"> 14 &#8220;I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.&#8221;</div><div class="s1">The Little Children and Jesus</div><div class="p"> 15People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16But Jesus called the children to him and said, &#8220;Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.&#8221;</div><div class="s1">The Rich and the Kingdom of God</div><div class="p"> 18A certain ruler asked him, &#8220;Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 19 &#8220;Why do you call me good?&#8221; Jesus answered. &#8220;No one is good&#8212;except God alone. 20You know the commandments: &#8216;You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.&#8217;#18:20 Exodus 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 21&#8220;All these I have kept since I was a boy,&#8221; he said.</div><div class="p"> 22When Jesus heard this, he said to him, &#8220;You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 23When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24Jesus looked at him and said, &#8220;How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 26Those who heard this asked, &#8220;Who then can be saved?&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 27Jesus replied, &#8220;What is impossible with man is possible with God.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 28Peter said to him, &#8220;We have left all we had to follow you!&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 29 &#8220;Truly I tell you,&#8221; Jesus said to them, &#8220;no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.&#8221;</div><div class="s1">Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time</div><div class="p"> 31Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, &#8220;We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 34The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.</div><div class="s1">A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight</div><div class="p"> 35As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37They told him, &#8220;Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 38He called out, &#8220;Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 39Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, &#8220;Son of David, have mercy on me!&#8221;</div><div class="p"> 40Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41&#8220;What do you want me to do for you?&#8221;</div><div class="p">&#8220;Lord, I want to see,&#8221; he replied.</div><div class="p"> 42Jesus said to him, &#8220;Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.&#8221; 43Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.</div>
