Remember Jesus
However much you’d like a reset button, it doesn’t exist. Conflicts can’t rewind, but they can be resolved. Solomon and his wife were in conflict, and he disappeared. She looked for him and found him. Before she found him, all the reasons why she loved him had filled her mind and heart, and he had been wise in not stirring up the conflict further. She says that she found herself back in the chariot. What does this mean? It means she’s right back where she started; she didn’t have to pay the price for the conflict for days or weeks. There is no doghouse in this moment. She is her beloved’s, and he is hers. They are committed to each other in holy matrimony.
We see that the young women call her a Shulammite. Back in the Bible times, the man would be called "Shula," and the woman a "Shulammite." What the young women were saying was that they were the perfect match. You couldn’t find anything more whole than when they were together. There was unity again. They chose each other over their desires. They remembered the great things about each other. He had been working too hard. She was apathetic. He didn’t beat down the door; she knew she should’ve opened it, so she sought him out. She compliments him, and he praises her. They found reconciliation. But where does reconciliation find its peak? You may be in the conflict of your life and want to find reconciliation too. How do we do this? Where do we start? We start with Jesus.
Solomon put myrrh on the door handle as a sign of his love for his bride. Jesus put His blood not on a door handle but on the nails of the cross. He put His love on display for the world to see so that the door to heaven could be opened. He stands and knocks at the door of your heart. If you open the door, He will come in. His death covered all your sins, past, present, and future. Because we have been forgiven and reconciled to the Father, we can now be reconciled with those around us. We can ”fall on the sword,” for Jesus did way more for us. We can die to our pride knowing Jesus created the very people who put Him on the cross. We can deal with any conflict, for the greatest conflict was dealt with already for our sake. If you know Jesus, you are now restored to the Father, so you can be restored with the one you love here on earth. Start with Jesus. Remember Jesus.
