1 Peter: For His Glory, by His GraceSample

There’s a war being waged over you. As a Christian, you are literally the spoils of war, and God treasures you! In the final verses of chapter five, Peter reduces his message down to two simple truths: 1) The intention of our adversary, the devil, is to deceive and destroy us, and 2) Jesus’ victory over the enemy at Calvary was literally a saving grace.
The outcome is a people equipped to give glory to God amid the battles of life because they are living in, under, and through God’s grace. Being in a battle means we need to be battle ready.
Peter reminds us that to endure and survive the battle, we will need to “humble ourselves ... under God’s mighty hand,” “be alert and of sober mind,” and “resist” the enemy by“standing firm in the faith” (1 Peter 5:6,8–9).
Then, in God’s perfect timing, God Himself will perfect, confirm, and strengthen you.
- What areas of your life need to come under the mighty hand of God? Before reading 1 Peter, would you have thought of these areas as places of rebellion?
- How has 1 Peter encouraged you to identify areas where you need to take hold of the hope of Christ?
- What helps you keep your eyes on God when your struggle seems to go on forever?

About this Plan

Christians today desperately need to hear 1 Peter’s message of hope amid suffering.
