A Bright Coming
The lawless one comes with Satan's "power, signs, and lying wonders" (2:9), but it is no match for the Lords return in almighty power. The same breath that spoke the creation into being and breathed life into Adam will now consume God's enemies. All of hell's power will be overthrown when Jesus returns, and in the "brightness of His coming" there dawns a new day for all of God's people.
The ultimate fulfillment of that new day awaits Jesus' second coming to earth, when all hell's power will finally be ended. But the new day can begin for every believer today. Jesus comes with almighty power to consume the adversaries of our souls, that draw us into sin and ceaselessly torment. Though Jesus waits for the day and hour of the Father's release to win back the planet, He won the battle for us at the cross in His first coming. Invite Him, today, to vanquish the forces of hell so that we may experience "the brightness of His coming" in our personal worlds.
