Jesus’ Return
Maranatha! “Our Lord, come!” It is the continual cry of the Spirit within the Bride, the Church, for the heavenly Bridegroom. “Jesus, come back!” How earnestly the Bride of Christ longs to be home forever with her Bridegroom!
Maranatha! This cry occasions an equally earnest call. “Let him who thirsts, come.” It is the invitation of Christ Himself through His Bride: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). This “Bridal call” echoes God’s generous, yet urgent, call to “come to the waters” of life (Is. 55:1).
Maranatha! Expectation and invitation go together. The Lord’s return and world evangelism are vitally connected. With our hands stretched up, we cry, “Our Lord, come!” With our hands stretched out, we call “Come to Jesus!” So ends the book of Revelation and the Bible. And so will such a passionate cry and call end human history! Amen!
