DAY 251 OF 365

Trust

We cannot trust someone we do not know. These verses hold two key words to discovering a loving, trustworthy Lord at work in our personal lives.

We are to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways. The word used here for “ways,” Hebrew derek, means “a road, a course, or a mode of action.” It suggests specific opportunities a person may encounter on a regular basis. Seeing His hand at work in the everyday places opens our heart to trust in times of deepest trial.

Then, “acknowledge,” Hebrew yada, means “to know by observation, investigation, or firsthand experience.” The highest level of knowledge is direct intimate contact. This refers to the life-giving intimacy of marriage. Applied to our spiritual lives, it suggests that prayer conceives and gives birth to blessings and victories.

As seen in the light of this text, we may conclude that if in all our days we maintain contact with God, He promises to direct our paths toward fruitful, life-begetting endeavors.
