What does it mean to be saved?
Salvation is much more than repeating a prayer or intellectually agreeing with a statement of faith. And it’s not just about escaping punishment after death.
To be saved means that we receive a new identity, purpose, and hope. It means being transformed, starting now–not just when we die!
Apart from God, we were lost, alone, and confused. When God saves us, he calls us out of that isolation and into his family. Belonging to God’s family gives us hope for today as well as the future. We can walk through life with our spiritual brothers and sisters and look forward to life with God forever!
Read: 1 Peter 1:3-5 and 1 Peter 2:9-10
Reflection Questions:
- What do these verses reveal about God’s heart toward us? How would you describe his character using the verses you just read?
- How does our future inheritance impact our lives right now? Does looking forward to heaven motivate you to change any part of your life today?

About this Plan

Being reunited with God in the resurrection life is the end result of our salvation, but salvation is so much more than a future destination. It’s an ongoing process of transformation that we get to experience daily as we follow Jesus. This Bible Plan is part 5 of 8 designed to go along with Feed’s “Foundations” small group series.
