3:16 LIGHT or DARKNESS
One of the most famous verses in the Bible - do you have it memorized? If someone came up to you and said 3:16, how would you respond? The Rule Book of Life should direct our minds to this verse from John’s Gospel. God so loved the world that He sent Jesus to us that we might have eternal life. Do you believe that? How do you live it? While we may not have every rule in the Officiating Rule Book memorized or every verse in the Rule Book of Life memorized, this is one verse that should be written across our hearts. And in our daily life, we should praise God for sending Jesus into the world to gain for us the gift of eternal life.
John presents another big picture view of the world that God loves. We have a choice to make - light or darkness. We are confronted with situations on the court and off the court, that challenge us to be the light of the Christ or “go with the flow” even when we know it is not the right way to handle a situation or deal with people. Let us pursue this great truth as we take the floor every night and be the light that shines in the darkness.
