In a “throwback” message, the Rev. Billy Graham was sharing about the advances King David brought to Israel, but there were three significant innovations which he could not fix. One of these happened to be human suffering. King David writes about this in Psalms 41 (MSG), where he says, “Whenever we’re sick and in bed, God becomes our nurse, nurses us back to health.”
Many additional Scripture references share God’s plan for us to live in complete wellness, including Exodus 15 that reads, “I am the Lord who heals you.” As a Christian doctor, I must first believe God is the true Healer and that He has given me knowledge and tools to help heal and educate individuals.
One way God can help heal us physically is through eating the correct foods and removing the wrong foods. Scripture is fond of oils, and during the time of the Bible, they are often used as gifts, preservation, and food. Two of these oils, olive and flax , are oils that can help heal. Other foods that assist in healing are herbs. Mint was often used as a source of the tithe and is known to aid in your digestion. “Bitter herbs” that are referred to in Scripture are today’s modern day parsley, which contains many essential vitamins and nutrients.
Lastly, as you make the right food choices to help physically heal you, continue to pray God’s promises of healing over your life each day, such as, "Father, I come to You today knowing You are the Great Physician. Thank You, Lord, for Your complete healing over my life in the name of Jesus. Father, show me if there is anything I should do physically that can help in my healing, and strengthen me through Your living power. I love You, Lord, and I thank You in Jesus’ name.
This Plan was created to help guide you in the exploration of the Bible. While healthy lifestyle ideas may be presented, we recommend consulting your physician before making any changes to your diet or exercise routine.
