NIV 365-Day Devotional Plan (2017)Sample

Freedom from Addiction
In Psalm 109 David describes the negative physical effects of his mental stress — his gaunt body giving way, his physical strength worn thin. Sadly, we see people today suffering from similar physical effects — but not only for a lack of food, but for mental reasons as well. Some women who are tormented by mental stress try to find a semblance of control through what they eat — or don’t eat. Others take a good physical activity (like exercise) and distort it. A disorder of any kind, left unchecked, can consume you. Get help. Talk to a trusted pastor, Christian friend or counselor. Call out, “Help me, Lord my God!”
Reflect & Pray:
*What secrets do you hide from others?
*Would others think a tendency or habit of yours is getting out of control?
*What trusted person can you talk to about struggles you might face?
