If you went to your local library or bookstore, you could find thousands and thousands of books on “how to be a good leader.” Each book will be full of tips and tricks to use and might even have a tagline that you have to do these specific things to lead your team well.

I’m sure each of these books is helpful in its own way, but thousands of them exist! This means that there are truly thousands of ways you can use your authority well. The only thing that you truly have to do is to choose to be the best leader that you can be.

No book can force you to make good decisions, choose words that lift others up instead of putting them down, or even model the kind of behavior you would want to see. Instead, you have the choice to put those good decisions into action whenever you can. You can make the choice every day to use your authority in the best possible way to benefit others.

Spend some time in prayer today and ask God to help you make better decisions in the future. Ask Him to guide you in difficult situations, and know you can always call on Him whenever you need.
