When we’re born, we’re given a name. That’s how people know us. Over time though, we become more than just our name. We begin to be known for how we treat others, what we’re interested in, and how we spend our time. We begin to develop a reputation that goes beyond just our name.

Today’s verse reminds us that one of the best things we can have in this life is a good name—a good reputation. This is so much more than just what others think of us. This matters because a good reputation affects the amount of positive influence we can have on others and, ultimately, the kind of legacy we leave.

Talk to a trusted friend, adult, or Small Group Leader this week about the kind of reputation you want to have. Ask them to help hold you accountable for living in a way that lives up to that reputation.
