Trying out for a school play can be nerve-wracking. Will you remember your lines at the audition? Will you make it to final callbacks? Will you forget everything altogether? It can be intimidating, especially if you have no acting skills whatsoever. But you'll never know if you don't try. That's kind of how the first followers of Jesus might have felt, stepping into a new journey without previous experience.
Did you know that many of Jesus' disciples were people who seemed unqualified for the job? The group who Jesus chose were fishermen, tax collectors, and zealots—all of whom were looked down upon in society at the time. They were unlikely choices—not the obvious candidates for history makers. These people didn't feel worthy or qualified, yet Jesus chose them, and history was made through them. The Bible says that it's never about us or our abilities, but God working through us.
No matter who you are, or what skills you have, you're called to make a difference. How can you trust God and take the first step?

About this Plan

Science can explain the mysteries in the world around us; there are answers for many of the mysterious things about faith too. You’ll learn in science class that “catalysts” are interactions that create big changes and transformations. Scripture shows us certain change-making “catalysts” are necessary for our faith and the faith of others. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore the catalysts for our faith.
