MisquotedSample

Have you ever said something to someone and they took it way out of context? It’s tough when that happens because our words are interpreted in ways we never meant them to be. Usually, we can clear things up without too much at stake. But in some circumstances, there is a lot on the line. One of these circumstances is when we take the Bible out of context. Have you ever read just one verse, and it didn’t make sense on its own? Or have you heard people quote a verse of the Bible that just seems to be taken out of context? This week, we want to dive into 4 commonly misquoted verses and unpack them in their original context. God gave us the Bible to guide us, show us how to live, and teach us right from wrong. We can easily confuse ourselves when we read the Bible out of context. The only way to truly follow Jesus and know what God wants for us is to read His word correctly.
Challenge: Are there things you’ve heard about the Bible or quotes you think are in the Bible, but you’re not sure? Write some of them down- then, take time today to research and see if what you’ve heard is true. Ask someone you trust for wisdom if you can’t find answers on your own! Ask God to reveal the truth to you this week.

About this Plan

Have you ever heard someone quote the Bible and thought, "I don't think that's what that means?" Or maybe somebody took a verse out of context to defend a point they were making. This week, we want to dive into 4 commonly misquoted verses and unpack them in their original context.
