The War on Wisdom Sample

What is the true meaning of being rich? Is it our bank balance, the type of car we drive? Or is it something more? Are riches more than mere material things or the perception of having a lot? Is not great wealth, as alluded to in this proverb, rather about the fullness of life? Do we attain this fullness of life and great wealth by enriching the lives of others at the expense of self and by seeking more than one’s own physical comfort?
It’s vital in life to take a step back and dissect the true meaning of riches and wealth. We may know these verses and even quote them from time to time, however we need to ensure we have not lost the true meaning of them.
Often the Kingdom of God flips what the world deems to be right or true on its head. The world often shouts that to be materialistically rich is to be wealthy. These verses are not saying that being rich in a material sense is a bad thing, but rather that great wealth comes from enriching the lives of others. Great wealth is to be generous of spirit and pocket, pouring out our lives into the lives around us just as Jesus modelled time and time again.
