I Can Make a DifferenceSample

Read Together
Have you heard someone say things like this?
- “I’ll never get a turn.”
- “No one wants to be my friend.”
- “Bad things always happen to me.”
Maybe you said something like that, too! Words like that mean you get a chance to make a difference. When you trust and follow Jesus, He will help you choose helpful, hopeful words, instead.
- “I am patient. I can wait.”
- “Jesus is my friend. I can make friends.”
- “God has good plans for me.”
Helpful, hopeful words make a difference because they shine a light on God’s goodness! Those words can encourage you. Your friends can hear words like that and learn Jesus is there to help them choose helpful, hopeful words, too.

Talk Together
- What are some words people say that are helpful and hopeful?
- How do you think helpful, hopeful words make a difference?
- If someone asked, “How can I get better at choosing helpful, hopeful words?” what would you tell them to do?
Focus Together
Do this focus activity as a family so your child can repeat it on their own when they face difficult situations.
- Close your eyes and point to your mouth.
- Say, "God made my mouth to make a difference."
- Repeat as often as you like, pointing to a different part of your body each time. Examples: mind, hands, feet, heart, eyes, etc.
Study Together
Read today's Bible verse as a family. Talk about how it can help you remember this truth: I can make a difference.
