5 Ways to Strengthen Your FaithSample

Spend Time with Others Who Strengthen You
By Paul Krause
Do you have people you can call family, friends, or mentors? I know speaking from experience when you call someone a friend there’s just a different way you act or even speak to them. Family . . . well, family is family. Sometimes this can be the most authentic conversation you can have as they can sometimes hear, see, or experience the worst and best in you.
Now, let’s talk about mentors. Sometimes, people turn people away from experiencing this kind of growth in their lives. Some people look for mentorship by following someone on social media who may not have some great moral values but encourages them with what they can see on their page rather than speaking directly to them with honesty. The last thing we should want is to have someone speaking into our lives who has a hidden agenda for themselves.
The greatest mentor in the Bible is of course Jesus, particularly when He was leading the disciples to follow in His footsteps. One great example was when Jesus encountered Peter on the beach and asked him three times, “Peter, do you love me?” Not only was Jesus forgiving Peter for betraying Him, but He was also being a great mentor for him. Jesus knew He was going back to heaven soon and that Peter would be leading people of his own. Jesus was reinforcing the truths to help get Peter ready for the things to come.
Worship Time
Find a great worship playlist on Spotify, Apple Music, or whatever music app you use.
Bible Time
- John 21:15–19
- Psalm 54:4
Prayer Time
Remember to make this personal and have a notebook ready to go! Be bold and specific. Pray God brings mentors into your life who will pour into your spirit and help you grow closer to Jesus, rather than someone who brings you closer to them for their gain.
