Beatitudes - Sermon on the MountSample

Jesus had been baptised, and it was now time for Him to begin sharing the Good News about the Kingdom of God. First, Jesus gathered twelve to be His disciples. Brothers Peter and Andrew were out fishing, and Jesus called from the shore, “Come follow me.”
Further along the shore, they came towards more fishermen, brothers James and John. They left behind their father and chose to follow Jesus too. Next was Phillip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, another man named James, Thaddeus, Simon, and Judas.
The twelve disciples had a lot to learn about God's Kingdom. God's Kingdom can seem back to front; up is down and down is up. First is last, and last is first. We discover in Matthew 5 what Jesus taught about God’s Kingdom. The disciples would soon learn that they will be blessed when they rely on God. Following Jesus didn't mean they would never be in need, but He would bless them if they relied on God for their needs. It wouldn't always be easy, but they would be blessed when relying on God.
