The Antidote to Anxiety

DAY 4 OF 6

Understand Your Anxiety

Wouldn't it be foolish for a farmer to try to harvest all of their fields in the spring, summer, fall, and winter? Absolutely, because we understand a bountiful harvest requires seasons of planting and growth.

In today's guiding verse, King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, applies the principle of seasons to our lives. He shows us there is an ebb and flow to life. We have planting seasons and harvesting seasons, but so many of us try to live in harvest all of the time. In order to harvest, we must first plant and water.

Do you know what season you're in right now?

Maybe you're starting a business, getting married, having a baby, or building a house. These are busy seasons! They require significant time, nurture, and attention. Because when things go sideways, it's your job to get things under control. Perhaps your last child is moving out of the house or you're entering retirement. While these seasons offer more time freedom, they may also come with serious soul searching as you ask God how to invest your time, talent, and treasure. Take time in your current season to grow where you are planted. God has important things ahead, but there is still equally important work to be done in this season, preparing you for the next.

God orders our lives like He's ordered nature: in seasons. Spend some time with God this week looking at your life and asking Him what season you're in—and then be present. Live in your season! When we commit to living on His timeline instead of our own, we will always be prepared to thrive in the seasons ahead.

As you engage with God’s word:

● What season am I in?

● What is God saying to me?

● What do I need to do about it?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
