Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the PsalmsSample

A Ticket With Your Name On
Think about all of the places where there are special requirements in order for you to enter. A ticket might allow you to go to a concert, cinema, or sports game. Your passport will allow you to pass security at an airport. Some restaurants have a fancy dress code policy. Now think about entering God’s presence, His holy house. What do you need to draw close to God and dwell in His sanctuary?
This Psalm starts with a question: “Who may dwell in God’s sacred tent? Who may live on His holy mountain?” It then goes on to list a number of requirements: the person who is blameless, righteous, does no wrong, doesn’t change his or her mind.. This sounds like a pretty impossible list, right?! The good news is that there is a ticket with your name on it. By God’s grace, you may freely and boldly enter His presence - no need to wear a suit or a dress, and no need to be perfect. Do your best to follow this list but don’t get hung up when you miss the mark. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Remember: whoever does these things will never be shaken.
GO DEEP: Is there anything stopping you from entering God's presence? Ask the Holy Spirit to show you and help you to live out the list of things mentioned in this Psalm.
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
