Year of the Bible: Part One of TwelveSample

Cain Murders Abel.
Stop here and read today's scriptures.
While both Cain and Abel were physical descendants of the woman, Eve, Cain chose to walk in the line and likeness of the serpent. It has probably been your experience that it is easy to be aware of your human tendency to walk in the way of evil. Notice the mercy of God toward Cain. God could have required his life as repayment for taking a life, but instead, God sent him away to a "place of refuge."
Question: What do you imagine was missing from Cain's understanding of God's nature and character that informed his decision to murder his brother?
Prayer Focus: Invite the Holy Spirit to transform the way you think about your choice between God's way (life) and the way of the serpent (death) by expanding your understanding of God's good and kind nature.
