Pursue Righteousness

“He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.” Proverbs‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Pursue righteousness. Pursue and strive after God’s way of doing things. Earnestly seek after Christ. Crave His righteousness. Crave His mercy. Crave His loving-kindness. The Amplified Version expounds upon Proverbs‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ in the following manner, “He who earnestly seeks after and craves righteousness, mercy, and loving-kindness will find life in addition to righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) and honor.”

According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for “Pursue” is, ‘rāḏap̄’ (H7291) which means, “To be behind, follow after, run after”. Follow righteousness. Run after Christ.

The New International Version expounds on Proverbs‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬ in the following manner, “Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” Seek to love one another. Seek His love in every aspect of life. Choose to honor Him. Seek to pursue His way of doing things in every aspect of your life.

The Message Bible puts it this way, “Whoever goes hunting for what is right and kind finds life itself—glorious life!” Proverbs‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭MSG‬‬. Go hunting for what is right. Hunt after righteousness. Intentionally pursue His way. Intentionally pursue Christ.
