Through the Bible: Obadiah

DAY 3 OF 3

The Lord Is Justice

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head.
Saviours shall go up to Mount Zion to rule Mount Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.”
Obadiah 1:15, 1:21 (ESV)

This part of Obadiah prophesies the fall of Edomites due to their arrogance and destruction of God’s children throughout history. We see that judgment will fall on those who harm God’s people. God also promises to restore the Israel nation and all of her children. The same still applies today.

As His faithful children, let’s rely on God more and more, instead of facing challenges and difficult situations on our own. Let His loving and forgiving Spirit penetrate our hearts, so we can still rejoice, remain positive, and live out the fruit of the Spirit no matter the circumstances. Otherwise, we give in to sin, and our hearts will be filled with angst instead of peace.

Prayer

Father God, thank You for Your warning of Edom’s outcome, how they stood a great chance to survive over Judah, yet this nation eventually vanished because God fulfilled His promise. We pray for those who are distressed and persecuted in any way, that they may know they are not alone and that You are with them. Make our journey a testimony of Your grace and power in our lives. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
