Whoever is Wise, Listen to Him

O Ephraim! Stay away from idols! I am living and strong! I look after you and care for you. I am like an evergreen tree, yielding my fruit to you throughout the year. My mercies never fail.” Whoever is wise, let him understand these things. Whoever is intelligent, let him listen. For the paths of the Lord are true and right, and good men walk along them. But sinners trying them will fail. Hosea 14:8-9 (TLB)

Many countries worldwide face seasonal changes with fluctuations of the wintry cold winds or the scorching heat of the summer months. People give special attention, take precautions, wisely prepare in advance for these changes. In Hosea 10-14, we see a thread of God’s covenantal love running through these chapters. In the midst of prevailing sin, pride, and apostasy among His people, yet again, we see the persistent call of God to His own, urging them to yield and return to Him, not to succumb to the pitfalls of self-glory. True wisdom lies in listening to God. True fruitfulness and purpose are found in surrendering and abiding in Him, filled with His overflowing grace and blessings. As believers of Christ, do we take heed of the Lord’s warnings of the consequences of sin? Do we allow the Holy Spirit to take control, direct our paths, allow Jesus to be our All-in-All, and be our Centre?

Prayer

Abba Father, thank You for Your Covenantal Love. You never abandon us in our waywardness and times of wandering from You. May we stay steadfast, deep-rooted in You, Jesus, our source of Life and Victory, that we may exuberate Your nature of humility, love, and power in all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
