DAY 15 OF 32

Worry Not

Ke’Sha Blanton

READY

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see." — Hebrews 11:1

SET

I had just graduated from high school when I received an envelope addressed to me in my handwriting. Confused, I opened it and read a letter I had written to myself four years before in my 8th-grade computer class. In the letter, I told myself I would be a great basketball player and attend UCONN to win the basketball championships. I had plans. But my plans didn’t quite turn out as I had written them. I had become injury-plagued, and I frankly wasn’t that good. As my injuries piled up, the fear and anxiety of what I would do with my future felt like a weight pulling me underwater.

Many of us have a weight pulling us under. We become so consumed with the life we have created in our minds and the goals we have set that we become anxiety-riddled. We want to be the best athletes, students, children, and friends. We crave success so bad that it becomes a burden to the point that we sometimes cannot function.

Yet, as I look back, I was worried for nothing because when I put my faith in God, He already had worked it out. Thankfully, we serve a God who wants us to worry about nothing but pray about everything. Faith in the Lord should allow us to take our troubles and leave them at God’s feet, and walk away with no worries.

God has a purpose and a plan. Faith shuts out our fear and anxiety when we truly trust that God is in control.

GO

  • What invisible weight is holding you down?

  • What does it mean to trust God beyond fear and anxiety?

  • What are some things you can do when you feel anxiety creeping in?

WORKOUT

Philippians 4:6; 1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 6:27

OVERTIME

"Lord, when anxiety and fear creep in, help me to trust in You, knowing that You will be a light in the darkness. Allow me to seek Your guidance and pray continuously to You. Amen."
