1 Peter: Is All of This Worth It?Sample

Peter does not shy away from the pain points his audience is experiencing- choosing to follow Jesus is not going to be easy. It’s not easy to walk away from old habit and it’s not easy to walk away from old buddies. It also won’t be easy to walk in the light of Christ while still living in a dark world. But light is what the world needs. Let them judge you, scorn you, and persecute you for the light of the good deeds you do and the good news you share. God too will judge you and find in you the light of life.
ASK:
-What things have you walked away from now that you are following Jesus?
-What is hard about living a different lifestyle than your friends, colleagues, family, etc.? Is Jesus worth it?
TAKE A NEXT STEP:
Prayerfully consider how you will live as light today- what will you say, what will you do? Ask God to give you boldness.

About this Plan

In many areas of today’s world it is not easy being a Christian. We need to ask, is it worth being identified as a follower of Christ? If so, how should we live in a world that rejects us? The early church was asking these questions, too. They were the target of jokes, rumors, discrimination and persecution. God answered and encouraged them through 1 Peter, as He will for us!
