1 Peter: Is All of This Worth It?Sample

This letter reminds the Gentile Christian church (and us!) that we have hope because of a risen Jesus! This hope sustained the churches Peter wrote to and it has sustained the persecuted church ever since. For this reason, Peter’s words are just as important today as they were to those Christians in the early church. Throughout the next six days, we’ll be looking into what Peter has to say about growing up in our faith. As you listen to or read the entire letter again pay special attention to what Peter is saying to the church about who they are in Jesus.
ASK:
-What is something you discovered in 1 Peter today that you didn’t see or hear the last few times?
-What are some references that you see Peter make that point toward the importance of growing up as a follower of Jesus?
-Why might it have been important for the church at the time of Peter’s letter to focus on their spiritual growth?
TAKE A NEXT STEP:
Because repetition helps us learn and retain information, write down/record somewhere a few notes that stand out to you about 1 Peter that you don’t want to forget.
About this Plan

In many areas of today’s world it is not easy being a Christian. We need to ask, is it worth being identified as a follower of Christ? If so, how should we live in a world that rejects us? The early church was asking these questions, too. They were the target of jokes, rumors, discrimination and persecution. God answered and encouraged them through 1 Peter, as He will for us!
