Ekidz Devotional: All About CreativitySample

Creativity Connects
Did you know God made you to create?
Let’s look at the very beginning of the Bible. In Genesis 1:1, it says, “God created the heavens and the earth,” and in Genesis 1:26, God said, “Let us make mankind in our image… ”
If God created the whole world and we were made in His image, then we were also made to create!
Even if you don’t think you are a creative person, God made you, and He has given you the ability to create beautiful things.
When we create something — draw a picture, cook a meal, or tell a story — it connects us to others. It sparks our imagination and makes a connection, it fulfills a need, and it’s a reflection of God — the original Creator.
Romans 1:20 says, “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities… ”
Whether you like to draw, make up games, tell stories, bake cookies, or anything in between, we ALL have the ability to be creative because we are all made in the image of God.
Your gifts and abilities are unique, and God wants you to use your creativity to connect to Him, others, and yourself!
Ask yourself: Would you consider yourself creative? What was the last thing you created?
Challenge yourself: Look for ways to use your gifts and talents to connect to those around you. Help your family cook a meal or make a card for your teacher or grandparent. Use your creativity to connect to others.
Pray: God, thank You for giving us the gift of creativity! Help me to look around and see how my creativity can connect me to people and the world.. In Jesus’ name, amen.
