Break TrailSample

You know what? Honestly, people tend to get on our nerves. Whether it's our parents, neighbors, siblings, or our parent's neighbor's siblings, people can drive us bananas. Sometimes we avoid talking to them, and sometimes we can't wait for their lips to stop moving so we can dip out on them! Like royalty, we want to say, "Begone, peasant!" But, we know it's not very polite to do so and wait patiently while we listen to everything they have to say.
As Jesus was getting ready to leave the earth and put his followers in charge of everything, they were really afraid of being without Jesus. For years, they hung out with him and hung on every word he spoke to them, but all of that was about to change. As he was leaving, he told them not to worry, that he'd always be with them. When we read these words, we now know that includes us, too. When life gets crazy, we can always remember God's right by our side even though God can feel so far away.
When do you find it most difficult to believe God is right by your side?

About this Plan

If you're a hiker, you know a trail-breaker is someone who walks ahead, makes a new way, and invites others to follow. That's exactly what Jesus did for us. He broke a new trail with his birth, his life, his teachings, and then with his death and resurrection. In this 30-day devotional series designed for Lent, we’ll see how Jesus showed us a new way of living and knowing God.
