Life Of Integrity

DAY 21 OF 30

"Noah's Calling"

The story of Noah is usually focused around the symbols of the ark, flood, and animals. The biblical messages are usually based on Noah's incredible faithfulness and obedience, which led him to honor God through fulfilling a mighty task.

Noah lived in a faulty, fallen world - similar to what we live in today. The people around him lived corrupt lives according to their own greed and lust. When God told Noah He was going to wipe out humankind, it must have been terrifying news. Then, when God instructed Noah to build an ark that would take over 100 years, it must have sounded outlandish! However, Noah proved faithful. He obeyed God's commands and fulfilled the task. He built the ark according to God's specific measurements and filled it with God's appointed list of family members and a pair of every animal. But, one detail that is often overlooked is the repetition of a certain sentence in Noah's story: “Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.” (Genesis 6:20)

Can you just imagine?! Two of each animal, of every type, simply walked right up to Noah. Noah didn't need to play the role of crocodile-hunter; rather, God brought Noah everything he needed in order to fulfill His plan. Noah had the Creator of the universe on his side. He had the Creator of all living things working for and with him. Because God created humankind, He also has the power to take away that creation. Because God created every animal, He also has command over them. When Noah came forward to encounter the Lord, listen to His commands, and fulfill them obediently, God met him where he was. God drew near to Noah, and supported him with everything he needed to complete his calling.

Imagine what God is calling you to do. It may not be to build a gigantic ark for a 40-day flood, or to open the door for hundreds of animals marching towards you. But, if you ask God what His plans are for your life, the Creator will provide you with nothing less than great.

What if God has something very specific and important for our lives, but we are too busy to listen? What if we miss out on His great plan because we are too consumed with the idea of our own? Ask God to give you vision and direction for your future.
