Through the Bible: 1 Kings

DAY 3 OF 9

Working Silently

And the temple, when it was being built, was built with stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built.

1 King 6:7 (NIV)

When Solomon built the temple of the Lord, the materials were brought in ready to fit in their respective places. Part by part it was put together by men without hammering.

It was an engineering marvel especially in times when there was no efficient construction machinery. Stone by stone placed inconspicuously but it progressed steadily.

Sometimes we wonder, “Why are my prayers not answered and nothing seems to be happening?” Friends, there is a distinction between men’s work and God’s work!

No noise does not mean nothing is happening. The work is on! God is putting all the stones in place, building us up one stone upon another.

We may not hear the sound of the hammer or the chisel, but know this, our future, our career, our finances, our health, and our family are being built up. The changes may be imperceptible but it is slowly transforming. God will meticulously work out every single aspect necessary in our lives.

Our God will never leave us midway. He would perfectly finish the work He has started.

Prayer:

Abba Father, we know You are working in our lives each day and help us to trust that the work You started in us will come to completion. We know that when You are in our lives, the toughest job becomes easy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
