Old Church Basement: Returning to Simple Worship

DAY 11 OF 12

BEFORE AND AFTER

This is my before and after

There's a new light in my eyes

Some things the camera can't capture

I was dead now I'm alive

Have you ever had a season of your life where it was hard to trust God?

You may have had an important prayer that wasn't answered, or you walked through something painful with a loved one.

In our journey with Christ, there will be times where it seems as though God is silent. You may struggle to see the light in the dark and feel distant from your Father's presence.

At times like this, it can be easy to listen to the voice of the deceiver. He whispers lies that are in direct opposition to God's promises.

He may say things like, “God has left you. He doesn’t care about you or what happens next.”

Sometimes this deceiver's voice might sound like, “You’ve made too many mistakes. You’ve messed up too many times. You might as well give up.”

But he is called the deceiver for a reason. (John 8:44)

If you are facing a difficult season, if you are walking through a fire, don't lose hope.

After a fire, we are left with ashes, typically a symbol of what once was. They represent what has been burnt, set aside, or cast away.

But our God can turn even the ashes, even the remnants of what once was into something beautiful and worthwhile.

In the difficult seasons, God is still working. We know from Scripture that there is never a time that He changes. His nature remains the same, and He has promised to be with us always, even until the end of the age.

From the ashes, you make beautiful things

I know cause you did it in me

God is faithful. And that means that He never changes. (Hebrews 13:8) He can be working even when we don’t understand what He's doing.

He always has the last word, and the last word is love.

“We humans make plans, but the Lord has the final word. We may think we know what is right, but the Lord is the judge of our motives.” - Proverbs 16:1-2
