Unleash Your Faith at Work: Living a Fully Integrated Life

Day 1 of 5 • This day’s reading

Devotional

Invite God into Your Work

Society encourages us to compartmentalize our lives into work, home, family, faith and so on, trying to convince us that the proper place for faith is in church and Bible study groups. Yet, God wants access to every part of our lives. Keeping your faith separate from your work, or any part of your life, limits what God can do.

Without God, we are left to do our work under our own strength, applying our own knowledge, and ability. How often do you get to the end of the week – or maybe even the day – completely exhausted and stressed? Yet we have the incredible advantage of the Holy Spirit in us to transform every thought, feeling and action so that our behavior can align with the Spirit within us and we can access strength and wisdom that only comes from God.

Unleashing the power of the Holy Spirit at work empowers us to work in ways that go beyond what we can imagine. This requires a choice from us. We need to choose to invite God into our work and create the space for Him.

Unleash God’s power in your work through these simple steps:

  • Open your heart and mind. Before your day starts, look at your calendar and pray over any meetings you have scheduled. Invite God into your workday and cultivate an awareness of His presence through the practice of seeking Him throughout the day, and thanking Him when you see Him working.

  • Create space for God in your workday. Pause at different points in the day to tune into God’s leading, even stretching out your arms to God as David did in Psalm 143:6.

  • Seek to understand His power inside of you. We have the same power that rose Jesus from the dead living inside of us. Pray that God helps you understand the incredible greatness of His power.

How will you unleash God’s power in your work today?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Holy Spirit who lives inside of me. Please illuminate my heart so I can understand the confident hope and incredible power you have given me through Your Spirit. Show me how to create space for you to be present in my work. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
