God's Peace

Imagine your baseball or softball team made it to the championship game. It’s the bottom of the ninth, the bases are loaded, there are two outs, the game is tied 5 to 5, and you’re up to bat.

You can win the game right here! What are you thinking at this moment? Are you thinking, “Can I do this?” or “Am I good enough?” or “What if I mess up?”

Maybe this situation isn't familiar to you, but it reminds you of a time you were worried or anxious about something. These thoughts can steal your peace and rob you of rest and God’s joy. But it doesn’t have to be this way!

Did you know God’s peace can bring you calm and rest in any situation? In fact, Jesus teaches on this very topic in Matthew 6:25-34. He teaches us that worrying won’t add a minute to our lives. And just as God provided for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, He will also provide for us.



When we invite Jesus into our daily lives, no matter what situation we face, we can turn to Him, and He will restore our peace and give us confidence to accomplish any task in front of us.

In the first episode of “Cloud City Chaos,” Flash was having trouble finding peace. He was so anxious it made his lightning powers go crazy! Glacia stepped in and helped him focus on peaceful thoughts. Just like that, God’s peace can do the same thing for us when we focus on Him. Check out this audio clip.

Ask yourself: What are some things that make you feel anxious or worried? How can talking to an adult or praying to God help you have peace?

Challenge yourself: Think about the activities that steal your peace. We all feel restless, anxious, or agitated at times, but when we turn to God, He will restore our peace and give us confidence to continue. This week, seek out peace in every situation you face.

Pray: God, thank You for teaching me I can have peace in any situation. Please help me remember to turn to You when I’m scared, worried, or anxious so Your peace can bring me calm and rest. In Jesus’ name, amen.
