How to Handle DisappointmentsSample

How to Handle Disappointments

DAY 4 OF 5

God Always Brings Light into Darkness

The story of creation teaches us another principle about the nature of God that can help us triumph over the disappointments of this life. The Bible says that when God saw darkness, He spoke into it saying, “Let there be light.” God brings light into darkness. He always does. This is a powerful principle. This means that God will bring light into your darkness.

God can turn around any negative situation in your life, no matter how dire it is. He can use any disappointment for His glory. He can display His goodness in the worst of circumstances. The biblical Joseph experienced a series of the most unfortunate events. First, his brothers threw him into a deep well to die. Then, they decided to sell him into slavery. He was taken to Egypt and became a servant at Potiphar’s house. The wife of his master accused Joseph of making improper advances towards her. This was a lie. However, Potiphar still threw Joseph into prison. For years, every event in Joseph’s life was pitch dark. It must have been very hard for Joseph to imagine that God would bring life into his circumstances. Yet, that is exactly what the Lord did. God used Joseph to first save the Egyptian nation from starvation and later save his own family. The Lord brought light into Joseph’s darkness.

God the Father also brought light out of the gruesome and horrific death Christ experienced on the cross. The Bible tells us that Jesus descended into the lowest places of the earth for three days after His crucifixion. He was in the depths of darkness. But even there, God the Father found Him. God’s light shone into darkness and resurrected Christ. Christ’s death turned into resurrection for Him and for anyone who believes in Him. Through His death, Christ became the light of the world.

Regardless of who you are, regardless of what you are currently facing, God is going to bring light into your darkness. God has a future and a hope for you. He will bring you out of the pit you find yourself in and set your feet on solid ground. God will rescue you out of the depths of despair. Never doubt the goodness of God, even when your situation seems anything but good. Never give up on the Lord because He will never give up on you.
