You Are God's FieldSample

Being blessed and being a blessing
The apostle Paul wrote a letter to the church in Corinth. The people there had promised financial help to poor Christians in Jerusalem, and now it was time to collect the money. On this occasion, Paul speaks about the blessing of giving. He encourages the Corinthians to give cheerfully from the blessings that God has given them. For, he says, “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.”
The growth of crops is a gift from God. We are dependent on Him for a good harvest. In a similar way, God blesses us with gifts that we can, in our turn, use to help others. If we do, He will make us bear fruit abundantly. Our “sowing” will lead to a “harvest of righteousness”. The Lord does not say that we will become materially rich if we donate our money. But it “will produce thanksgiving to God”, increasing his glory.
Which blessings have you received from God? How can you use them to “sow righteousness”, in order to honor the Lord?

About this Plan

In several parables, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a field where a man sows seed. This reading plan seeks to discover which spiritual lessons we can learn from Jesus’ parables and from other Bible verses about seeds and sowing. Thanks to Gospel Images for the beautiful image.
