This Is Us (Week Five)Sample

DAY ONE: 

Welcome to our daily devotional for our new series This Is Us. During this series we are going to journey through our Freedom Church DNA.  Some of you may know that DNA is like the secret code inside you—the thing that makes you, well, you!  You may also know that God created us in His image and wants us to live our best life.

This week we are looking at our Freedom DNA—Everything’s a Gift & Warrior Poets. Let’s start with Everything’s a Gift and look at how Jesus gives us so much to be grateful for. 

Everything’s a Gift

We intentionally celebrate and give thanks. We shake off complacency and entitlement to overflow with gratitude for God, our lives, and one another.  Practicing thankfulness gives us a joy that will sustain us. 

READ:

"The Last Supper" in the Beginners Bible (pages 442-445) or in Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, and John 13.

Jesus wanted to share His last meal on earth with His disciples. Jesus had something He wanted to share with them all—something important. 

It's good to share with others; we can be grateful for those God has given us to share with.

ASK:

When someone has something important to tell you, do you listen carefully?  

Tell someone you are grateful for them today.  

REMEMBER:

So God created human beings in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female (Genesis 1:27).

SAY:

God created me, 

Magnificent you can see. 

Every cell and part, 

Were designed in His heart. 

From the beginning of creation,

Every clan, tribe, and nation. 

Made in His image, 

With purpose, love, and to encourage. 

Whatever come what may, 

This is my DNA!
