Wondered by the Word — the Bible in a YearSample

Great Among You
Key Verse : Mark 10:43-45
We live in a “me” society, but it seems it’s been that way since the beginning of civilization. Defying cultural norms, Jesus spoke against it.
“But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Not only did Jesus speak against self-interest, but he modeled it every day of his life, living a life of humility and service to others. Time and again he showed you and me the importance of humility.
Let’s not waste our precious time here taking care of ourselves. (Or posting the best part of our lives for the world to see in the hopes of all the likes, validating our worth.) Instead, give your time, energy, and resources to showing others kindness while pointing them to God.
As Jesus came to serve, let’s remember to serve as well. In fact, to that point, how can you serve others today?
