WHO ARE YOU?

When my daughters come to visit, they love looking through old photo albums. Like most millennials, their pictures are on their phones, so it's a novel and fun concept to look at images in a book. During one such visit, my older daughter came to me one evening, faded photo album in hand. She looked at me surprisingly, tilted her head, and somewhat shockingly asked, "Mom, who are you?" The album contained photos of me as a young and sassy, free-spirited twenty-something-year-old. It wasn't the "mom identity" of me she was used to. I hugged her, and we laughed as we joyfully looked at the pictures together. 

Everyone has an identity, this being the characteristics, traits, and personality that defines who you are. You could say that this is your "worldly" identity. But once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you receive a new spiritual identity through the Holy Spirit. Let's discover, or rediscover, how amazing your life in Christ is! Unpack these everlasting gifts from God. Hold on to these beautiful biblical truths about who you are in Christ and begin to see yourself as God sees you. You are amazing!

• YOU ARE A NEW CREATION 

The Apostle Paul gives you a glimpse into the amazing change in your life when you put your faith in Christ. The new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, believing in your heart that He is who he says he is, and confessing it with your mouth, you are and have become a new Christian, born again of the Spirit, not of the flesh, as a new creation. God created a new spirit within you. You are a new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness because Christ is IN YOU.

This is a beautiful and everlasting gift from God that you can unpack right away! Will you thank God for your new spiritual identity today? You are chosen, hand-picked by the God of all creation, and made new. Live your new identity! Live a life that reflects Jesus in how you act and what you say. You are a new creation with a unique new identity that no one can take from you.
