How Much Is Enough?

DAY 5 OF 6

How Much Does God Give?

Okay, there are only two more days left in this Bible Plan. You’ve learned to take your focus off how much you get and to start thinking about how much you can give others. You’ve learned to be wise and to make a plan for how you’ll use money. And you’ve learned that no gift is too small.

But, mostly, it’s important to understand that anyone who follows Jesus is supposed to be generous because we’re following God’s example.

To truly understand just how generous God is, we just have to look at Christmas. It might not be Christmastime as you’re reading this Bible Plan. It could be in the middle of July! But, right now, think about Christmas. What did God give us on the very first Christmas? Well, everything!

Because of the full life of Jesus, we see how much God loves us. And how much do you give? Everything. Because (let’s review) how much does God give? That’s right. Everything! He loves you deep enough to give you everything you need. In response to this love, we hold nothing back. We live for God and love Him with everything we are and everything we have.

Jesus is called our Wonderful Counselor. He’s the Mighty God. He’s the Prince of Peace. And He’s the Everlasting Father! He came to be one of us. He gave everything when He died on the cross and came back to life so that anyone who believes in Him will be made right with God forever. That’s a gift no one can repay. And it’s free! It’s a gift that asks us to be generous with others in the same way.

Ask yourself: How can I begin to live more fully showing that everything I have and everything I do belongs to God?

Challenge yourself: Grab a paper and something to write with. Write down your top five favorite things. They can be physical objects (like a bike, a tablet, a pet) or they can be hobbies or actions (like dancing, singing, or drawing). Then, spend some time figuring out how to give those things as offerings to God. Example: My bike. I will thank God that He gave me legs that can pedal and a heart that can enjoy being in His world while I race around on my bike!

Pray: God, thank You for everything. Yes, everything. Because everything You created is good. And I trust You’re even working to help me through the difficult things. Thank You for Jesus and that He gives us everything we need today, and everything we need for an eternity with You! In Jesus’ name, amen.
