Why Are You Blaming God

Far too often, God gets blamed for things He has nothing to do with. In Proverbs 10, God shows us both sides of a coin.  Each side represents a choice that each of us is free to make.  On one side of the coin, we can act in a godly, biblical way, which we are told will result in blessing.  On the flip side, we can respond in a fleshly, worldly way, which will have negative consequences.    

We have heard it said you will reap what you sow.  What’s so beautiful about the Word of God is that God warns us how certain behaviors will result in inevitable consequences.  There is no sense in blaming God for adverse outcomes when He has shown us the choices and their consequences.

It’s ironic how people will blame God for things that God had nothing to do with. Sometimes I’ll look at a person and say, “You knew what the Bible said, God gave you a clear word on that choice, so how did you think that decision would work out? Why are you upset at our Father who loved you enough to tell you the choices of a particular action would cause a specific consequence?” Stop blaming God and make wise choices.

1.  What is a negative example of reaping what you have sown? What is a positive example of reaping what you have sown?  

2.  Do you blame God for things He has nothing to do with? What is an example? 

3.  Are there different choices you need to make in order to be wise?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for the principle of reaping what you sow. Help me to sow to the Spirit and make good, godly, wise choices.
