 Week Two - Day Four - God is always with me

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘The Lame Man’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 484 - 487) or in Acts 3:1-10.

Peter and John couldn’t give the man money, but they could share God’s power with him. 

Peter and John boldly said to the man - “In Jesus’ name, stand up and walk.” 

AND HE DID! 

God made a miracle happen through Peter and John that day, because they had faith for the man to be healed. 

ASK:

What can you have faith for? It could be healing for somebody, or maybe for your friend to know Jesus?  

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5)

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness,

With your love and kindness.

We don’t ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen.
